Public priorities for medical research and development
13 experts from the government and policy, clinical and patient organisations discussed clinical research at a roundtable discussion hosted by the Health Service Journal with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry. The event aimed to address clinical priorities. To help inform the debate, ABPI commissioned Opinion Leader research to determine where the public believes clinical research priorities should lie, through a combination of survey and group discussion. Service users' Priorities for Research
The MHRN Executive wanted to ensure that service user priorities as well as NHS, funder and researcher priorities were taken into account in the annual call for Clinical Research Groups (CRGs). They therefore requested from the Service User Research Enterprise a brief review of the latest evidence on service user priorities that is in the current literature in order to inform the next call for research groups. UPDATE - Treatment Uncertainties of Urinary Incontinence - Priority Setting
Report of the final priority setting meeting of the JLA Urinary Incontinence Priority Setting Partnership
The JLA Urinary Incontinence Priority Setting Partnership was established in 2006 to identify research uncertainties in the treatment of urinary incontinence, which were of importance to patients, carers and clinicians. A final workshop took place in November 2008 to turn a shortlist of 29 agreed treatment uncertainties into a prioritised list of 10, shared by patients, carers and clinicians, to be taken into account in the commissioning of future research. This report describes that process and the agreed next steps for the JLA and its partners. For a copy of the report, including the top 10 research uncertainties agreed by the Urinary Incontinence Priority Setting Partnership click here (PDF)
