Scottish School of Primary Care Annual Conference 2010
"Focusing our Research on Patients"
The newly reformed SSPC Annual Conference will take place on 27th & 28th April 2010 at the Crieff Hydro Hotel. The conference will be spread over 2 days with social activities and a formal dinner arranged for your pleasure. The conference focuses on patient and public involvement in research and will be an ideal opportunity to sample the breadth of research activity of relevance to primary care, and network with research minded colleagues from across the professions.

MSc Clinical Research for Nursing, Midwifery, Health Visiting and Allied Health Professions - Patient and Public Involvement in Research Module
- The University of Hertfordshire is one of seven universities in England to offer the first wave of the above part-time modular master’s degree programme. This programme is jointly funded and supported by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
Module Information
The programme includes modules on:
• Clinical Trials, Design and Management
• Ethics, Research Governance and Management
• Patient and Public Involvement in Research
• Qualitative Research Methodologies
• Evidence Based Practice
• Quantitative Research Methodologies
Recruitment for the master’s programme is now complete but we are opening up the Patient and Public Involvement in Research module to members of the wider community if there is sufficient interest. We can offer a limited number of additional places to people who would like to gain knowledge and critical thinking in relation to public involvement in research. Individuals undertaking the module would join the nursing and allied health professional students on the course but would not be required to undertake any assessment.
Timing
The module will be held over two two-day blocks: Tuesday and Wednesday 25/26th May 2010 and Tuesday and Wednesday 8/9th June 2010.
Fee
The cost for this module is £330.00.
